Fill delivery for residential projects
We can bring in fill for a residential lot, demolition backfill or a new-home pad, with delivery and placement priced to the actual project. Tell us whether you need material dropped, spread, graded or placed as part of a specified pad system. Those are different scopes and should not be buried inside a price per truck.
Clean fill is not automatically structural fill
Material suitable for landscape grading may be unsuitable beneath a foundation. Structural fill is selected and placed to the project specifications, including material acceptance, moisture, lift thickness and compaction testing where required. We confirm the approved material and documentation before procurement. We do not substitute mixed demolition debris for specified fill.
What determines the delivered price?
Haul distance, material availability, required testing, quantity, truck configuration, legal payload and site conditions affect the delivered cost. Larger quantities can support different logistics than a single load. We quote the load basis and estimated quantity in writing rather than advertise a universal price for an undefined load.
- Property address and safe truck access
- Material specification and intended use
- Required volume and agreed measurement basis
- Delivery only versus spreading, grading or compaction
- Schedule, staging space and any restricted haul route
Measure the work before counting trucks
For a simple rectangular area, compacted volume starts with length times width times fill depth, divided by 27 for cubic yards when dimensions are in feet. Actual takeoffs account for slopes, existing elevations and irregular geometry. Loose delivered volume differs from compacted volume; the project takeoff and material characteristics determine the allowance.
Do not block drainage to raise a pad
We review the proposed grading and permit requirements before bringing in material. Imported dirt cannot be used as a reason to redirect runoff onto a neighboring property or fill a protected area. Unusual material, suspected contamination or unsuitable soil needs an approved resolution before it is incorporated into the work.
